Donbass – Zelensky claims Ukrainian army does not shoot on civilians
While the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) put their people’s militias on high alert following the increase in shellings by the Ukrainian army against civilians in the Donbass, Zelensky said his army was firing only in response to fire from soldiers of the two republics and not on civilians, in a hallucinating denial of reality.

DPR – Ukrainian army fires heavy artillery at Staromikhailovka
As feared after last week’s discovery by DPR intelligence services of three 122-mm Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers on the Ukrainian side near Donetsk, the lull in the use of heavy artillery by the Ukrainian Army will not have lasted very long (less than three weeks). Thus, from 18 to 19 May, the Ukrainian Army violated the ceasefire in the DPR 21 times, firing 143 rounds of ammunition, including 15 122-mm heavy artillery shells and 54 120-mm and 82-mm mortar shells. All these heavy artillery fire was conducted against Donetsk and its periphery.

Ukrainians about European integration: “We didn’t read what we signed”
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko said that Kiev would like to “revise in some way” the association agreement with the European Union. The same agreement that Maidan “stood behind” six years ago. Then President Viktor Yanukovych was overthrown and the civil war started. RIA Novosti was investigating what the European integration had brought to Ukrainians.

A mercenary from Belarus killed and robbed the Donbass residents
Today, according to the official data of the main department on struggle against organized crime and corruption of the Belarus Republic Internal Affairs Ministry, about 140 citizens of the republic are at war in Ukraine. Unemployed Yuri Zhyvushka, who holds radical views, in 2014 came to Ukraine and joined the Azov nationalist battalion. He belonged to a group of conditional “adventurers and criminals”. These are people who for various reasons had problems with the Belarusian legislation, those who could not find a place in peaceful life. Among them are those who officially declare their ideology, but actually run away from Belarus, not wanting to end in jail.

Ukraine refuses to include the Donbass special status into its constitution
Following the meeting of the contact groups that took place by video conference yesterday, 14 May 2020, Ukraine officially refused to include the Donbass special status in its constitution, as provided for in the Minsk agreements it signed. This refusal was made official via a report of the meeting, published on the website of the Ukrainian President, Vladimir Zelensky.

DPR – Two civilians wounded in three days by Ukrainian army shellings
From 12 to 14 May 2020, the Ukrainian Army violated the ceasefire 29 times and fired 368 rounds of ammunition, including 80 120 mm and 82 mm mortar shells, against the DPR territory. Despite the holding of a new meeting of the contact groups in video-conference format since 13 May, the situation on the front line has not calmed down at all. On the contrary. Thus, from 13 to 14 May 2020 alone, the Ukrainian army violated the ceasefire twice as much as in the previous 24 hours, and fired three times as much ammunition.

The Donbass referendum of 1994, on which the whole world turned a blind eye
On 27 March 1994, a referendum (disguised as a poll) was held in the Donbass about the federalisation of Ukraine, the status of the Russian language, and Eurasian integration. This referendum, which took place 20 years before the referendums that endorsed the creation of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, has been forgotten. However, the results of this referendum are important to understand what happened in Donbass in spring 2014. That is why we decided to translate this article published in 2019, which marked the 25th anniversary of this referendum forgotten by everybody.

“DPR is provided with test systems to detect COVID-19 (coronavirus) in sufficient quantities. Russia helped us in this, for which we thank it very much”, said the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin in an interview with the newspaper VZGLYAD. He spoke about how the region under blockade is coping with the pandemic and why Ukraine is slowing down the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

Zelensky lost the right to speak about the territorial integrity of Ukraine
On Tuesday 28 April 2020, Vladimir Zelensky finally signed the law lifting the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land in Ukraine. A moment he called “historic for all Ukrainians”, despite the fact that a majority of the population is opposed to this law. Commenting on the signing, the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Denis Pushilin, said that after signing such a law, Zelensky lost the right to talk about the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Zelensky begs the West for help to avoid Ukraine’s bankruptcy
On 26 April 2020, the Spanish newspaper El Pais published an article by Vladimir Zelensky entitled “The spectre of bankruptcy hangs over Ukraine”, in which the Ukrainian President begs the West for help to avoid having such a catastrophe on its conscience. An article which unfortunately proves that my recent analyses of the state of Ukraine and its risk of collapse were correct.

The Florence Declaration: The Creation of a “NATO-Exit” International Front
The 25th of April is an important date in Italy’s history. It commemorates the 75th anniversary of Liberation, which is also the Anniversary of the Resistance. Last year we met in Florence on the 7th of April, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the founding of NATO. The theme of our conference last year was NATO EXIT. The event was organized by Italy’s Comitato No Guerra, No NATO, in collaboration with the Centre for Research on Globalization (CRG). The Florence Declaration was drafted by Italy’s Comitato and the CRG. On April 25, 2020, Commemorating the Liberation of Italy. We express our solidarity with the people of Italy. At the same time we express our concern regarding the US military bases established in Italy immediately established after World WarII. We must reflect on our history. Was it a Liberation or an Occupation? The European Union is militarized. The Pentagon is actively involved under banner of NATO in both Western and Eastern Europe.

Ukraine – Game of Maidan season 3, episode 6: The resurrection of Saakashvili
In Ukraine as in Westeros, the characters who participate in the game of thrones appear, disappear, die and then resurrect, such as Mikheil Saakashvili, who after having been ejected from the country and from its political life by Poroshenko, has a chance to come back to it thanks to Zelensky’s proposal to make him a Deputy Prime Minister of his government. Merkel Survives the Coronapocalypse, but the EU Won’t
No matter how hard I try to dig German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s political grave she proves more adept at staying alive than a cockroach in a woodpile. And the recent fight amongst European Union members over “Coronabonds” has proven yet another escape path for her to avoid political termination. Thanks to Merkel holding the line on debt mutualization and EU fiscal integration, which is very unpopular in Germany, her Christian Democratic Union (CDU) is now polling at levels it hasn’t enjoyed since before the last general election in 2017.

Sweden Is Right. The Economy Should be Left Open
Sometimes, the best thing to do, is to do nothing at all. Take Sweden, for example, where the government decided not to shut down the economy, but to take a more thoughtful and balanced approach. Sweden has kept its primary schools, restaurants, shops and gyms open for business even though fewer people are out in public or carrying on as they normally would. At the same time, the government has kept the Swedish people well-informed so they understand the risks the virus poses to their health and the health of others. This is how the Swedes have minimized their chances of getting the infection while avoiding more extreme measures like shelter-in-place which is de facto house arrest.

The Ukrainian Judicial System Released 2 Banderist Militants Who Barbarically Killed a Family in 2017
Yesterday there was a sharp turn in the case of a brutal murder in the Donetsk region, the suspects of which are three ATO soldiers from the “Donbas” battalion [a Banderist battalion that has nothing to do with Donbass – ed]. Two of them were released under house arrest by the court. Two and a half years ago, a family of three people was stabbed on Ukraine-controlled territory. They all turned out to be close relatives of an influential former official who spent years in charge of the region in which the murder took place. Quickly enough, the police detained three volunteer battalion militants. Yesterday, however, the Themis started to take them out of harm’s way. The Ukrainian “Strana” news agency recalled the high-profile murder and its likely perpetrators.

Ukrainian Peace Process Collapses
by Eric Zuesse for The Saker Blog - News has only gradually seeped out that the Minsk II agreement, to find a peaceful way to end the war between Ukraine and its breakaway far eastern Donbass region, collapsed on March 26th. Corona’s Biggest Victim Is Yet to Come. The EU Itself. But Don’t Worry, Top Officials Are Talking to Albania
Will the European Union itself become the first real institutional victim of corona? It seems that the warning signs are already there as we see genuine anger and vitriol across the 27-nation bloc from people of all walks of life, who fall victim to the 21st century plague. What Corona has re-impounded is the uselessness of the EU, its impotence and delusional idiocy and above all its futility.

EU says sanctions against Russia should remain in place during pandemic
April 6. - In 2014, the European Union imposed three packages of sanctions on Moscow over the situation in Ukraine and Crimea’s reunification with Russia. The European Union leadership says there is no issue in keeping sanctions against Russia in place amid the coronavirus pandemic because they do not hamper Russia’s capabilities to address the outbreak, spokesperson for the European Commission Peter Stano told a video briefing on Monday, answering a question about a letter sponsored by a number of MEPs, demanding that the commission do not "lift the sanctions on Russia under the pretext of the coronavirus pandemic."! According to Stano, sanctions "do not prevent Russia from tackling coronavirus outbreak." "Yes, indeed, we have received this letter and the reply will be sent through the usual channels.

Nazis That “Don’t Exist” in Ukraine
Here you can see these same guys who “have never existed in Ukraine and still do not exist”. And for whom the most important enemy should remain Russia, whereas the local “capitulative power” should be punished if it does not obey their “slogan” to smash moskals. Yesterday in Transcarpathia, “united by war”, they went out to honour their dead “heroes” with their absolutely “innocent” attributes, so “reprehensible” in the homeland of its creators. And they recorded a collective appeal of their veterans, volunteers and patriots of Transcarpathia to Kiev’s “capitulating government”. And it’s water off a duck’s back for them.

Ukraine’s Health Minister Called People Aged Over 65 “Corpses”
Health Minister of Ukraine Ilya Emets called the country’s citizens over 65 years old “corpses”. In his opinion, in the context of the coronavirus epidemic, the state and businesses should not spend money to support these people. The head of the Ministry of health said this on the air of “”. According to Emets, Ukraine currently lacks the express tests and virological laboratories “even if to take in account the help of China”. “After all, we know the statistics of how many people we have over 65 years old. <…> I say when financiers will start to count on those people who are still alive (elderly), I don’t joke or try to scare. I keep saying: calculate how much funds we need to allocate for living people, not for corpses,” Emets said.

There is a ticking time bomb in the Ukraine
[this column was written for the Unz Review] Between the fallout of the murder of General Soleimani and the coronovirus, the Ukraine has been somewhat forgotten, which is understandable, but also potentially dangerous. The “young and dynamic” President Zelenskii has more or less been forgotten, especially by the legacy corporate ziomedia. This does not, however, mean that the situation there did not evolve or, in fact, that it is not becoming extremely dangerous. So for those who did not keep an eye on the Ukraine, here is a short summary of what has been going on: Summary of developments. First, Zelenskii has proven to be a total ZERO. Simply put, neither he not his team can get anything done, anything at all. I really mean nothing, nothing at all. Second, while initially the victory of Zelenskii seem to indicate that the Ukronazis had suffered a crushing defeat, it now is completely obvious that Zelenskii lacks the will, or the means, or both, to tackle this huge problem.

Europe under quarantine
The coronavirus crisis has exposed the shared vulnerability of Europe’s interdependence. Time to turn that into a strength. Europe is facing a new stress test. And, this time, it is not only the health of its institutions that is at stake but also that of its citizens, its economy, its role in the world and its credibility and usefulness in the eyes of Europeans. The Covid-19 crisis has arrived like a tsunami in a fragile European Union still battered after a long list of crises, which have left noticeable scars. Up to now, the union has shown a lack of co-ordination. It appears Brussels has been able neither to digest nor anticipate the consequences of a pandemic with a huge impact. Unilateralism has prevailed in border management and together with it have come ad hoc public-health interventions—and the shameful image of foreign aid delivered to Italy in the face of the passivity of its European partners.

Covid-19 Shatters the Facade of European Union
The new coronavirus and its accompanying disease Covid-19 has stopped the globe in its tracks. Governments, markets and news cycles have become dominated by the pandemic. Europe is now the epicenter for the disease, with Several European Union countries have declared themselves states of emergencies, including Belgium, France, Portugal, Spain and Italy. The 27-member bloc has sealed off external borders. Some states, such as Poland, have begun closing borders with other EU members. Brussels, the administrative center of the EU, is alarmed because the much-vaunted single market and its core principles of free movement of goods and people is at risk of collapsing. The European entity which proclaims solidarity and supranational status is reverting to a collection of nation states, each desperately fighting for their own survival amid the Covid-19 pandemic. EU leaders have been criticized for showing lack of central leadership and solidarity.

Ukraine Continues to Shell Donbass in the Hope of Gaining Leverage in Minsk Talks
Against the background of an aggravation at the frontline, the head of Ukraine’s Presidential office Andrey Ermak went to Minsk to obtain dividends for himself. This was reported by the former official representative of the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic and reserve Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Marochko. The situation in Donbass in recent days is increasingly tense. There is unrest in both the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. The UAF continues to violate the truce, firing prohibited weapons at the homes of peaceful citizens, as well as at the positions of the defenders of Donbass. In the DPR, the Ukrainian armed forces violated the ceasefire 21 times over the past day, firing more than 200 rounds of ammunition on the territory of the Republic.

The Nazis in Ukraine Showed Their Teeth
For many years I have heard both from representatives of the current Ukrainian regime and from those who represent the “opposition” to it (such constructive “opposition”) that there are no Nazis in Ukraine, and if there are, they do not have an affect. It is surprising to me that these people (who claim that there are no Nazis or almost no Nazis) do not experience cognitive dissonance because they are in “opposition” to absent Nazis for the 7th year and cannot take power from those who don’t exist. Yesterday’s case of Sivokho, whom those who don’t exist pushed around a little and even shoved to the floor, gives us the opportunity to understand the true state of affairs.

At first Ukraine banned Russian language songs. Then Russian-speaking performers, especially those who used to tour in Russia (except Vakarchuk and Skripka, of course), were banned. Kiev’s Problems and the Escalation in Donbass
There was another escalation in Donbass. Everyone understood that sooner or later it would take place. Happy BREXIT Day - Now For The Hard Part
Tonight Great Britain will leave the European Union. Then comes the hard part. Britain has until the end of this year to make a new trade deal with Europe, with the U.S., and with other countries. But it does not have much negotiation power. Nearly 50% of Britain`s exports go to the EU where 27 national parliaments will have to sign off any new deal. No deal means that Britain would lose a big chunk of that trade. In the U.S. Congress must also agree to a new trade deal with Britain. Lots of lobbyists will ask for open access to Britain`s markets.
